San Antonio & Sea World

This past weekend, we took a little road trip to San Antonio to see some friends and take Cale to Sea World.  Our dear friends, Randy & Tim Weigle, have two boys of their own, Robby (age 2, 7 weeks older than Cale) and Charlie (age 1).  Tim works as a pharmacist for the Air Force and they will be packing up and moving to Alaska in June!  We wanted to visit them before they headed off on their new adventure, and take advantage of Sea World being minutes away from where we were staying.  We drove to San Antonio Thursday afternoon, hoping to time our departure with Cale's nap time, but of course, it was a fail.  Why would we think Cale would start napping in his car seat at age 2...he has never napped in his car seat before.  Thankfully, he was such a trooper, and it was only a 4.5 hour drive, so we made it just in time for dinner!  Cale loved getting to play with Robby and Charlie - he was especially attentive to "Baby Charwie"... I hope this is a sign of how he will be as a big brother!

Bath time with 3 boys was wild, but fun!!

The next morning, we got up, got ready and headed to Sea World.  It was drizzly and humid, but overcast, and ended up being a good day for Sea World.  It was a weekday, and not many people were at the park (relatively speaking), so we didn't feel crowded or rushed....so nice.

First stop, Dolphin Cove...

Cale loved getting to see the dolphins,
and Adam and Cale were able to buy dolphin food to get up close...

Cale wasn't so much a fan of getting SO close to the dolphins...he preferred watching them from a further distance! Ha!!

Next Stop, Shark Tank...

Tim and Robby watching the sharks...

We saw stingrays, all types of sharks and fish, sea horses, and eels...

As we were leaving the shark tank, Cale spotted a squirrel and thought that was part of the Sea World adventure too.  He LOVED chasing the squirrel around the grass...

Next stop, Shamu!!
(Aunt Cookie, you may want to close your eyes)

Cale was a little unsure at first.  He watched the water fly and splash people in front of us, and did not like the idea of getting wet.  When I reassured him that we were sitting up high and would not be getting wet, he loosened up and enjoyed the show...

Every time Shamu would jump out of the water, Cale would yell, "Jump Shampoooooo!!!!"
 He loved it!!

Notice my humidity hair...

Last stop, the Penguins...

They were pretty stinky, but so much fun to watch!!  Man, they can swim!!

We left and headed home for nap time, and boy did those boys nap!! :)
That evening, we got a babysitter for the boys and the adults got to go on a double date - much needed and so fun!!

On Saturday, that daddies took the older boys to the Air Force base to look around and have lunch, and Randi and I were able to hang out around the house and visit while watching HGTV!  We stayed at home that day, made dinner, and just lounged around...  a much needed relaxing day for all of us!!

Sunday morning, we headed back to Dallas a little earlier than expected, when Cale woke up at 4:30am wide awake.  Since we were all in the same room together, Adam and I were wide awake too.  We decided to go ahead and hit the road so that a) we didn't wake up the Weigle family and b) so we might be able to get good naps in once we got home!  It ended up working out great, and we were so thankful for our time in San Antonio!

Thank you, Weigles, for housing us and spending your weekend with us!  We all had so much fun and can't wait to create more memories with y'all in Alaska!!
